Fantastic photography.
Abysmal website. I think it's such a shame.

What's up with the rubber look?

He has a style.. or a rut, depending on your perspective.. There are some interesting video's of his photo sessions, and you can see a bit of his repartee with people, that's more interesting than some of his repetetive work to me..

platon makes 4 photographs. the wide angle bw portrait, the bw closeup, and 2 variations of a close up colour portrait and the wide angle colour, all colour with a blue cast. all other styles don't look like him. he's one of the most active shooters in the industry.
his web is utilitarian, and could need attention. he needed a mention here for his work and his presence in the industry. there are alot of coders here that could reach out to him in NYC or the UK to show him that a change of website could work.
Style is what style does. get you noticed. all of the master portrait photographers were known for 1 thing. 1 look. repetitive yes, effective, yes. haven't ya heard, photographers are egomanics. lol.

Carty, nice response, and thanks for the Platon mention..
Yes, it's easy to criticise Platon's style, and/or ego even, but yes, he's probably in a situation where changing too much would lose gigs...
Oddly enough, I think his website being simple and unremarkable isn't bad for him, as I doubt his clients care about it, and he probably doesn't want his look's power diluted by too many bloggers illegally using his images...
Maybe he is "the" portrait photographer of our day, and I suppose that's better than nominating Jill Greenfield, but I don't think he's an Avedon or Penn, or Karsh....
