Are there standard sizes for fold-out posters? Or is just pick a size and run with it?
Some inspiration:

um.. figure out whatyou want it to measure.. and how you want it to fold
then do the math.ps remember to add some 'mm' for paper folding.

you wanna work with available paper sizes. talk to your printer.

Thanks gentleman.
I just wondered if there are existing sizes that are standard. You know like A4, A2, A0 are "standard sizes".

I don't think any posters are meant to be folded, unless of course you like that crease down and across the image, that said, why would you want to fold it? Planning on publishing something in Teen Bop later this year?

am going to use it as a mailer. you know, fold it down and put a stamp on it.
- then best to first consider standard envelope sizes and postage rates.horton

fair enough, now that you've said that, try to be sure your folded size is a standard mailing size to save you shipping expense
(though if you wanted anyone to keep said poster you might try rolling it up in a mailing tube for longevities sake)

Why are designers obsessed with posters? Posters in my mail go straight to the trash. There's nothing more inconvenient than a poster.

tabloid (11"x17") is a good size, i think.
most magazines are roughly 8.5"x11" so folded in half it would fit perfectly. just subtract half an inch or so to allow for binding and folding and you're good
unless you want a tri-folded penthouse centerfold kind of a deal.

You could easily go 18x24 inches and up. Fold it in half three times and it gets significantly smaller. I just got an AIGA poster/mailer a couple of days ago and it is huge. Veer does it all the time too. They manage to fold them down to a huge postcard size, or like an A10 or thereabouts.
