DSL vs Cable Internet

What are the pros/cons?
The info I finding seems to be either propaganda or outdated.

I don't have a land line, so if I wanted DSL i'd have to pay extra for a "dry loop fee"

in the UK Virgin is the only cable operator, its great as long as you dont download much as they throttle your speed after x mb

Cable is fast and affordable if you can get it. You should be careful in the U.S. as companies like Comcast have a monopoly of many areas and they fucking suck.

YEah Virgin is the only provider and therefore has the monopoly in the UK. I hear there customer service is shite but I may have to convert as BT have really fucked me off and I can only get a a 1.5Mb where I live

I had cable back when it was blueyonder (in the UK), and it was great... really fast, never dropped. Have DSL now, and it's worse in comparison. I reckon, go for cable if you can.
