anyway...bing is a very good name. google is a nonsense word, so is bing. bing is easier to spell both phonetically and in number of letters.

In that Ad Age article, they talk about how the different search engines are pretty much just as good, and it all comes down to branding as Google's only advantage

Well Google established a brand name by having a better search engine before the others. Now maybe the rest have caught up but people still use Google.
