Nike just laid off 500 people last Thursday.
It is rather grim.- I had to go to their campus for a meeting last friday and it was a ghost town full of somber zombiesfooler2
- I didn't go into work Friday. Thursday there were too many people crying around Campus.defstro

So I am guessing now is not a good time to relocate out there.

If you have a job now I would say no. If you are unemployed right now it is probably easier to get by here than in Brooklyn. And by probably I mean for certain.

I am moving to Portland soon and wondering how the design community and job situation is currently like out there. Any advice or recommendations would greatly appreciated. My work can be viewed at, www.roberthuston.com.

The thing to keep in mind about this town, is that it has and probably always will be a freelance one. There are not a ton of great places to work, rather a few really great ones, but plenty of local business and culture to support individuals with the drive and experience necessary.
I have a good job in Portland, and we are hiring for a few different spots despite the local and national economies.
- thank you! I will keep in touch. I plan on moving in Sept.roberthuston
