Does anyone else think that Seth MarFarlane sorta looks like he could be a character in FG?

The Simpsons (old episodes) were better. NOW they suck.

I totally grew up on the Simpsons. I watched the first episode when I was a preteen when they were just shorts on the Tracey Ullman show. I remember that show came one past my bed time and I used to sneak and watch it. Now, not so much..
Family guy I watch and is quite good... oddly I find myself not letting my son see it.
I say lets be progressive while honoring that which set the standard.

Rooting for Simpsons,
much in the same way you would root for a sportsteam that hasn't won a tournament in years.

Family Guy comprises of 70% random one-liners, which generally will elicit a laugh, sometimes because it's crude, sometimes because it's a pop-culture reference (ie. Peter locked up in a cage being poked with a stick crying like a girl as an imitation of John McCain). If you find either of those forms of humour funny, you're on a winner with Family Guy. I find the occasional episode annoying, but I usually get a few laughs out of every episode.
The Simpsons revolves around a debatably heavy storyline, which can be really hit and miss. I personally liked around season 9 to season 13, they were seriously funny and peculiar. I loved the episodes that had Conan O'Brien as a writer, that man is FUNNY.
After 21 seasons the simpsons are certainly part of western culture... I mean who doesn't get the reference when someone says 'd'oh!'? The whole world should throw the simpsons cast a party when they retire... they've become a regular visitor to a lot of people's homes...
To be fair tho, if you see a cute girl walking down the street and say 'giggidy' to your mates and it's amazing how many of them get it :)

I haven't watched an episode of the Simpsons on TV for years. I do own quite a few DVDs though, and that shit is hilarious everytime. I enjoy humor that makes you think or that expects you to be educated. Family Guy, well, I've watched it maybe 5 times. It's basically just crude, predictable slapstick humor. All of the flashback scenes and unlimited movie/TV references are just another gimmick owed to the Simpsons. And I truly feel like an old man as everyone here talks about "giggity"... I have no fucking clue what that means or references, and unfortunately I'm not even willing to tolerate an episode of FG to find out.
Futurama wins hands down.

the Simpsons hasn't been funny in years. If their aim was to not produce a comedy series any more then they've done it. However, when it was good it was hilarious, Hank Scorpio, the New York episode, Marge gambling... I still remember lines from each that crack me up.
However, I've moved on to Family Guy, the humour is cruder, the writing much simpler but its funny, essentially what the Simpsons no longer are.

Maybe thats why we like FG better nowadays, because either we grew up or we are growing up.
another question, has Brian and Lois ever had sex or kissed? I remember they did kiss but Brian was dreaming...
