i'm having a problem in illustrator. I received a logo from a client that has some kind of blur applied to a path that only blurs the shape below it. however, when i look at the appearance palate no effects show up as having been applied. It says that it has a white fill and a default transparency. This path seems to act as some kind of mask. Does anyone have any thought as to how this is being created?

draw some shapes, then your transparent palette will show options.
then double click on the part where mine is black..
then draw a shape again

ahhh, wow. my brain is bleeding!

keep in mind that illy cs4 grads now support transparency, so don't waste too much time studying opacity masks.
