This is probably an often asked question... but I'm just curious whether many people use Wordpress as a full content management system rather than for just managing blogs.
I know there are more and more plugins becoming available... does this make it a viable cms for the whole site? Or do people just force it to do that?
What do you think?

It depends on the website and it's users

For a site which basically functions as a blog, I'd say it's viable

Their are few cms that are as good as wordpress for 'free' but as zaq says what does the website wanna be? I think wordpress has serious potential for full sites but yeah you cant beat purpose built websites for functionality..

do you think its bad for an agency to use wordpress? like Big Spaceship, it may not be wordpress but I don't think people were impressed with the blog-like change.
- Every agency and their mom looks like a blog though...ukit

the way it handles images is really crappy... adding slugs to posts and tiered menus are a nightmare :(

it's made to be a blog out of the box, but if you think of the database structure in a more abstract way, you can apply it to any problem. good php knowledge is necessary though. at this point, i'd rather write my own functionality (and often do) for wordpress, than wrestle with a bloated system that tries to be everything to everyone.
