mail.app 'on my mac'

What's the 'on my mac' folder all about? I'm guessing if I stick something in it it'll be stored locally so not available online etc? Trying to get into using mail app.

I've been wondering that too. It adds that stupid drop down arrow needlessly.

If you add folders to it they go under there.

I have 4 mail boxes and then I have a number of folders where I archive mail from Clients.How do you add folders to the mailbox?

You should try to use IMAP accounts (MobileMe is also IMAP, sort of), not POP (cos POP is so 20th century and really sucks). If you only create folders in your IMAP account tree you wont have an 'On My Mac' folder.

I use IMAP with MobileMe. Just wondered what it was for, pop makes sense though

I do have the IMAP Tree as well.
I only have one IMAP account and I am slowly migrating all my email over to that.Problem with IMAP is I delete Email's from my Iphone only to find that have gone from my laptop too :/ Old habits never die really

Make sure you have the mailbox settings to read from the server rather than deleting from server and storing locally.
