HI there peeps, I'm really interested in learning about how big cities work around their Image, Logo, typography, communication, signage, and more details.
Do they hire an Art director/Studio to make brand guidelines? how does it work?
Also Museums and government projects are really interesting, if you could guide me to examples and chat a bit about how this works I would really appreciate it.

Sorry I lost all my old bookmarks, so all I could think of was Pentagram, Spiekermann, and Vignelli... but there are many out there, I'll see if I can find any links left on my delicious acct...

Ah, found one of those interesting things... I thought it was shit at first but I admit it has grown on me.

So the main idea on how to go visually on a project like this would be how NOT to "date" the image, how to be able to keep it fresh with subtle changes?

What about typography? friendly? fancy? ?
- Legible, but true to its message. i.e. museums could be much more stylized than highway signageismith
- Government things shouldn't be 'fancy' per se because they have to appeal to such wide audiences, but they shouldn't be afraid to embrace their own culture.ismith
- be afraid to embrace their own culture.ismith
- Niiiiiiiiiiiicem the cultural factor is a pretty interesting topic too, "How to make that culture pop there without being cheesy.?kojikabuto
