I remember how annoyed I was when I got my first mac 3 years ago and realized how shitty it was when using bitmap display. Mac fonts weren't even optimized for bitmap display.
There was a lot of cursing until I adjusted to only using antialiased display.

Don't bother, XP users don't even have Corbel installed.

Clear Type Tuner Powertoy for XP.

Thanks for the input. I read that IE7 has clear type embedded but I'm not sure it works.

Okay, my last rant about this. I don't get how you would ever want your type to render this way: http://www.microsoft.com/typogra….
It seems to me that Microsoft has squashed innovation so much and now they are suffering for it themselves.

Odd, clear type has been on as standard on XP since the beginning. unless it's just a Dell setting. I spent ages trying work out how to turn it off so i could see what Win2000 people were seeing!

"they should be viewed in their true, drawn-out form. Clear-type is on here on my PC at work"
Cleartype only anti-aliases one axis, so really you are just looking at a fucking turd instead of a real font

i have real trouble running CS4 on my Pentium though.

cleartype off I use standard

how do you stand it? the type looks like poo. I'm on a mac so I'm frustrated by Windows land.

fonts should not be viewed in pixel form in 2009. they should be viewed in their true, drawn-out form. Clear-type is on here on my PC at work.
- monkeyshine0
So, do you know if it's on for most users by default? I read somewhere that IE7 did some trick to turn it on for browser only.

Why is Microsoft so god-damn slow to evolve when it comes to shit like this?
Don't work around people who aren't keeping up. If we did, we'd never get anywhere. Just do your thing and let others adapt to it.
- the sad part is that I used a MS font hoping to be PC friendly. I really hate MS.monkeyshine

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.monkeyshinemedia.net/…

No cleartype here - I like my system text jagged.
