to go live but i thought....
Would you add an archive / pitch / etc section to show maybe decent top shit that clients didn't want and old stuff you did a few years back.

as long as it is clearly marked as pitch and the assets used were signed off.... yeah, sure. pitch work is often much nicer than the stuff clients fuck up anyway.

You can also be vague and say "concept for..." or "style boards for..."
Almost give the impression that they did something for yours, this piece was just another option.

I often show the version I liked best if the client didn't go for it. to me a portfolio is about your design sensibility, not your client's tastes

You could do a "before & after" show the initial creative you did, then show the final version where the clients taken all the best parts out and pissed all over it with their creative input.
