I hear once they seal the deal you can only Twitter in iPhones.
- i hope so. then it would finally go away.zenmasterfoo

I'm trying to figure out why this is supposedly a big deal.
- janne760
still a rumour.. don't quite take it serious myself.
- ESKEMA0
why? can't figure how they will make money from twitter..
- noRBG0
still trying to understand why the fuck anyone cares about twitter.
even all those exposés on Twitter, which are supposed to uncover the secret truth about the monetization of Twitter....they all end in, "well, Twitter isn't profitable but it sure is fun."
what a retarded application. tweeting is just hyper-blogging, and it's useless. i have yet to see a single worthwhile use or implementation of Twitter.
- one reason of many; much more efficient than following bloggershorton
- I have to agreeMeeklo
- with noRGB that isMeeklo
- this is a very close-minded opinion about a very useful application / network.Point5
- lol, useful how? id LOVE to hear.noRBG
- do you find QBN useful? Twitter shares many of the same qualities.Point5
- I guess the question is have you used Twitter? I had the same opinion before getting into it, but after a while Ive found a great use for it, I follow bloggers and friends, and get great links and hear opinions and get a lot of useful information, quickly. Like RSS, but with a much more "human" touch.nRIK
- But I agree on one point, there are alot of idiots on there who misuse / abuse it, talk about mundane shit, its pointless and self-centered. So I don't follow those who don't interest me.nRIK

The technology isn't new or novel, it has yet to show profitability, and I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to buy it. Apple or otherwise.

"The technology isn't new or novel, it has yet to show profitability"
Well it has a great brand name and massive user base for starters. Same could be said BTW of Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and all the other successful social media sites.
- Users = money. No one cares about how innovative your technology is.ukit

Here's to hoping they buy it, and kill it. The world would be a better place if I didn't hear the word "tweet" or hear about what latest celebrity is sharing the mundane details of their life to people who don't care.
- you might not hear the word tweet, but you'll still hear about and empower celebrity via commercial America.Point5

I'm over it. All of it. Facebook. Twitter. Status Messages. 160char voyeurism/exhibitionism. It's fizzling out...

since you asked noRBG, this is how I use Twitter:
• No More RSS - Twitter has done away with my need to browse my rss subscriptions anymore, as I receive the same info in my Twitter alerts whether it be design, tech, global news, sports, etc.
• Abbreviated email - much easier to communicate through direct messaging with people; the 140 limit keeps messages to the point. Anything over is either nonsense or truly requires drafting a long email or phone call anyway. Simple FF plug-in TwitterFox makes this happen easier than opening my email client or gmail in a new window. This is a very petty use, but at the same time something that I use in tandem with instant messaging.
• Staying Local - This is the best way for me to be in touch with local happenings and events. I really don't have time or desire to comb through the local papers so I can just subscribe to primary interests here in Vegas and stay in touch with what's going on in my community. I follow local designers, restaurants and the police department for example.
I'm not saying that any of these services hold any value for you, but for me I like to have a casual, customizable way to stay informed about these things.

twiitering alone is like masturbation. Like sex, others are needed to make twiiter productive

i've said it before and i'll say it again;
you're all "twittering" here in public voice, only difference being that qbn is unfortunately full of ugly designer egos and unprofessional trolls.
- ********0
here's the deal.
This will probably upset a lot of the retards as well as the sleeping sheep.Apple computers is deeply affiliated with the NSA
partly via their 'relationship' with 'Cingular /AT&T'- it won't surprise me if they purchase Twitter, then merge it with Google Maps and Google Talk.********

I could see Apple integrating twitter with iChat, entering tweets like a spotlight search or something...
On the subject though, what are some good alternatives to Twitterriffic on OS X? I like the thought of tweeting through quicksilver, but I'd like to see others' tweets too... I think a new client came out not too long ago and someone mentioned it on their blog or something but I can't remember what the hell it was.
