a basic question.. just got an entry level hdtv (1080i or 720p) that cames with vga connection, but my mac uses dvi, so, I used a dvi to vga converter.. you think that I would get an increase in quality if I use a dvi to hdmi cable? a real increase in quality?

eh. depends.
probably not. I'm have both and don't really see much difference. But I am on 720P. I also don't download a lot of hi-def video for viewing on my laptop either.
If you have $50 bucks to blow go for it.
otherwise your fine.

there would be minimal apparent difference. Hdmi and dvi are the same type of digital connection. You are most likely not running the vga connection over long cables, so no biggy
