well falmouth has really let it self go :(
the past 4 years have had some really amazing thinking and really tight design. and it started to ween to the point where it was one or the other.
this year, besides the shebang zine girl - it all looks pretty monotonous - in terms of thinking and execution :(
also the lack of digital thinking is bewildering - not even executions. just - how an idea could also be intelligently be adaptedd to online... wtf?
Jon Unwin fail
- I knbow CD's that don't think 'How an idea can be intelligently adapted online'. These are still only studentsbabaganush

on the plus side.. the invite is the best i have seen in a long time...

6 people to design one invite!

Hey, give them a break. They didn't have student grants like you did. it's a lot tougher now for students considering the market saturation and given that anyone with a mac, a digital camera and a pack of pirated software can "design".
Last year's New Blood was ok considering the dullness of the previous years.

^ mate I only graduated last year, no grant for me I worked through my degree.

i agree with psenso though..
Falmouth is lagging behind a load of colleges this year :(
(although at least this year they are all online - even if it took one of the students to make it happen) i swear Falmouth is a digital black hole.

We got internet.

Do they still make the 'essential reading' booklets?
- I'm not sure what that is, can you give me more details?GH
- It was a booklet created by selected final year students to sell the course to the next potential bunchmax_prophet
- Not that I'm aware of, I'm a bit out of touch with those sorts of happening to be honest.GH
- You work in SF? I want to move out there for a while when I graduate.GH
- gentleman0
it was a sheet of paper last time i saw it
- gentleman0
Max - i guess the new version of that is the 'Advice to Sink in Slowly' series.
although that's completely independent of the graphics course and is now designer by professional illustration boffs and not students.. so even the point of that has gone to shit.

It's now May 6th in Cornwall and England so this event is now on TONIGHT.

Is there any free beer?

You people are too harsh. I think that work is of a good standard for students... they're at an experimental stage not at a refining their shtick stage... look at the breadth of stuff they're doing. Damn site better than 80% of the college's annual turn out.
I do think the college should invest in a better camera though. 2megapixels is so 2001.
- psenso0
i guess my point is exactly that Horp
they have no boundaries.. they can do *whatever* they want.. go crazy with concept and experimentation. explore typography, layout and inject as much of their personality in their work as possible.
it feels like they are trying to polish off something with no substance
they will have plenty of time to roll turds in glitter as soon as they graduate. :P this time should be about them going nuts and exciting us jaded creative types when we come to the shows
if i wanted to see mediocre design i wouldn't need to leave the office.
- I take your point psenso, it could have been more experimental I guess.Horp
