He has to convert it to a different file type. Has he got QT pro?. If so get him to export the file at the same settings as your original sequence then it will be fine, presuming your sequence was uncompressed 8bit or 10 bit etc.

Thanks, choss. That seems to be sort of working, although apparently the new file will import, but picture looks all wonky. Not sure why, and since I'm not even there to see it firsthand, not gonna waste anyone's time on it. I may just have to drag my ass the 45 minutes up there and do it from my machine. Grrr.

Trying to troubleshoot over the phone is like trying to make dinner in a stranger's kitchen, blindfolded

Define "cannot be imported". Does this mean the program doesn't recognize as appropriate files? That they import but he has to render them when he puts them in a sequence? Could it be that they lost their extensions? Is he in an HD project and their SD clips (this question is moot if he's using FC Studio2)?

He was getting a specific error, with a number code, but could not find any topic regarding that error code. This is all SD footage and projects.
Since I just downloaded and imported everything with no issue, I am wondering if we have an FCP version issue here. I am on 5.0.4 at work, and 6 at home. Not sure about his, but I suspect it may be 4.5.
Yeah, he just called me again, he's on 4.5.
Any recollection if there is a potential issue with importing footage with the h.264 codec into FCP 4.5? Or anything else? It's just weird.
