you know i hate sites that have some cutesy name that references the site's functional metaphore like 'digg' and 'fffffound' but the thing is i know right away basically what its about and what as a user or visitor i am to expect. 'nizm' is sort of vague and ryhms with 'jizm'. so i'd ask whats it mean and why? my first impression when i see the site is that its a video site, nice design, grids work sort of etc but all i can think to do is look at a category or click a video...so all it really ends up being on the first page is, as some people have mistaken, is a typical video site...theres no big button or obvious functional *thing* that makes me involve myself right away. even your little write up just sounds like google video or youtube content ranking shinanigans as opposed to quality videos edited by savvy users.
take a look at http://yuxt.com/, its down now but its very usable right away, sort of compelling to automatically look around and add video or try something, they have some cool functionality thats attractive to some people. you should play up your strengths like either cool video functionality stuff and/or quality edited videos... like ffffound is with images.
just my thoughts.

i'm ranting now but....what you say at the bottom under 'Our Editors' is the jist of what you should say at the top 'nizm is....we find videos worth watching'...at least textually i get right away whats happening. "Our editors have taste and skill".

As for the name, it was a word used in someone's vocabulary :) Didn't really put much thought into meaning. As I don't believe there is a downside of building up a brand with a unique name.

"Quality videos by savvy users" I like that. We opened today and all this feedback is really allowing us to shape the way the site is presented.
Keep in mind the purpose for a regular visitor is to watch the videos. The Savvy users (Editors) are selected by invite only, and thus we do not need to sell this feature to the public.
Nizmlab = us being sick of watching kids on youtube making bad videos
