okay flavor your a penguins fan are you confused at all by that commercial they keep running that is about "a single second can make a difference" and they show the penguins beating the red wings... are they saying that a second could have changed the series last year... i don't get it.

The Penguins were facing elimination in Game 5 last year, and they scored the winning goal in triple OT when at any time the Red Wings could have scored to end the series.
They are really missing the real one-second difference in that in Game 6 with literally the closing seconds, Crosby almost scored, and Hossa on the rebound which would have sent that game into OT as well.
It almost sent me out of a 4th story window as well, haha.
The Red Wings completely and utterly dominated them last year in the first two games (I was at game two in Detroit). To the point that everyone thought it was going to be a 4 game sweep. The Penguins made it a series, at least an exciting enough one for people who are neither fans of either to watch.
They should show the heartbreak of the one second to the Penguins, and the jubilation of the Red Wings in Game 6.
Game 5 only works because well ... who doesn't like the Penguins, haha.

Or they should do that one second makes all the difference when Marc-Andre Fleury comes out onto the ice leading the Penguins in their introductions for Game 1 in Detroit ... and falls flat on his face.
- I REMEMBER THAT!nicole_marie
- Haha yea. That could have completely lost all the jitters the Penguins had ... or have them blown out 4-0, then 3-0.flavorful

okay thank you for explaining... this may be because i am a red wings fan but i think it is kinda odd that they always choose to highlight other teams especially when we won the cup, i just always notice that in commercials its always the wings losing or getting hit, and i also notice the penguins winning, possibly because of the very large and strong fan-base? but Detroit has one too... i think you may have a penguins fan high up at wherever they do that advertising... :)
- I think the Pens have Crosby going for them, where it's hard to find a popular superstar within the Wings.juhls

- i would say datsyuk but i could see how he doesn't have that superstar standout quality....nicole_marie

Detroit definitely has more fans compared to the Penguins. They have built it up over the years. It could depend on the channel you're watching. I primarily watch Canadian channels here, so they tend to favour the Leafs. But they're getting better with representing other teams. I just watch local stations whenever I can.
- i loved getting Canadian coverage in detroit... sooooo much better, i HATE vsnicole_marie
- I guess once a team reaches the finals they get more respect around here...juhls
- Like the Sens, haha?flavorful
- that's exactly what I mean, hahajuhls

There are a fair share of Red Wings fans spread out across the hockey world. I think it's because they have been so good for so long, that a whole generation of fans have grown up with them being good, and most kids don't have in-born reasons to want to follow local teams if they are horrible.
That and they play good hockey, so if you like hockey, you kind of have to like them. Granted I hate them, but I respect them.
I wish the Penguins would take a cue from their playbook and sign Crosby for 30 years, and top-heavy the first years to game the salary cap... * blink * .
- omg, 30 years
:Ojuhls - True... i loved the red wings and the VIPERS! (IHL) ahahahaanicole_marie

It's funny you should say that I actually work with someone who grew up in Detroit moved to philly for college and switched to being a flyers fan.... i would never think of that as being possible coming from detroit. If I didn't watch hockey growing up i was hazed for the next week.

With just a bit of luck we'll get one of our teams back.
- nice.juhls
- I don't have much hope though.juhls
- apparently Gary Bettman hates Jim Balsillie and the league is fighting the offersikma
- so it sounds like a long shotsikma
- Betman hates new teams in Canada period. Even if its our sport. He wants the US to accept it more widely if he rams it down their throat..ETM
- rams it down their bloody throats. He just doesn't get it.ETM

Washington was outplayed for most of the game. But still a long ways to go for both teams (especially the Pens).

That was a pretty entertaining game. Dirty hit by Ovechkin on Gonchar, but all that guy does is take runs at people. I always thought that was called "charging", but I could be mistaken.
