We are in the market for an inkjet printer and the two we are looking at are the Epson Stylus Pro 4880 and the Canon iPF5100. they both print 17x22. We would never use a glossy stock, usually a nice museum type paper. Anyone have any experience with either printer? Pro's or con's? Thanks for the help, dropping $2K for a printer is never an easy task.

Iam working with a HP 5500cp 60" and a HP Z6100ps 60"
Both are very good plotters. Dunno about the Epson outside they cost way too much for nothing more.

Both Epson and Cannon are SOLID. I use the HP Z3100.

the guy at the printer place said he thinks they are both excellent printers, but was leaning towards the canon. I wasn't sure if he gets better kickbacks from canon, so i thought I'd ask. I have friends with smaller epsons and they love them, but hadn't heard much about the canon.
- Canon is the fastest of all the printers, and time = money.GetRefresh
- time does = money, and i want more of both. got any you can spare?capn_ron

We use 4880 and 4800 @ school. Pretty good results.

^ If I were to buy a new printer, I would go with canon. My friend has the canon and it rocks.

The only difference that I saw and was told was that the canon has a slightly larger footprint, but with the epson, you can only use the matte black or glossy black at one time. It doesn't matter for us though because we are only printing on matte stock and would use the matte black. The canon has both in it.
