I have this line
ns.play(movieURL, currentTime, theVideoDuration, false); It works after the movie is paused, but starts at the beginning of the movie each time. I could paste more code, but I'm tracing real values for currentTime and theVideoDuration.
Why can't I get the movie to start at <currentTime> instead of the beginning of the movie?
Also, is there any reason I shouldn't use resume() instead of even bothering with play() ?

you have to buffer to n seconds before you can seek to n seconds, it can't just jump in.

Hmmm, I guess resume is the better option since it seems to remember the playhead/buffer in the same place whenever the stream is stopped?
I'm not sure why anyone would use play if it requires this extra step.
Forgive me, I'm just getting into AS3 now after years of AS2.
