Been three times. 1999, 2000 and 2007. I'm going this year again. I can't wait. It will be an experience you have never had and won't be able to explain to people who have never been.
- scarabin_net0
actually, it has a very thorough cleanup crew and a sister organization whose goal is to offset the festival's carbon footprint
- and a strictly enforced "leave no trace" policyscarabin_net
- I've seen photosets of friends friends showing waste everywhere, oil stains from cars etcversion3
- i'll link if i can find it
version3 - i suppose it's an ideal, but it IS difficult for 30k people to not leave a markscarabin_net
- i think there were closer to 50K in 2007.capn_ron

hey cap'n, i keep reading about rebar and stuff but that seems like a hassle. i have an 18' wide teepee tent with a center pole held up by ten guy lines with 12" "heavy duty" stakes at the ends.
do you think those stakes will do the job or should i look into another solution?
- capn_ron0
That should do the job, but I have heard of people using longer pieces of rebar and bending them into a U so you have 2 12" bars on each guide line.
The ground can be finicky, some years it is really solid and other years it is dust for a few inches deep. If you bring options, you will be able to adjust on the fly.

I performed at bm decompression in LA one time, I know its nothing like the real party, but I can't take an entire week of that I'm sure, this decomp was 1 night, in the middle of the city, and I saw some of the most amazing art installations ever, people are so creative, I would imagine the desert party is 1000 times better

Been wanting to go since I moved to Reno, but I hate the price.
- yeah, i figure it's gonna cost me over a grand for my girl and iscarabin_net
- fortunately you can share your camp with othersscarabin_net
- what are the ticket prices this year?mayo
- right now, 260 each plus fees http://tickets.burni…scarabin_net
- hahahaha redicoulous********
- but once you get there you don't have to spend money for the time that you are there.CGN
- capn_ron0
the playa is 1000 times better, but you co get the feeling from the decompressions. The week is really worth it if you can ever swing that time off.

My best friend went and then was on this mega creative revival when he got back. What's the theme this year?
- sublocked0
all the burning man people seem to live in the bay area.
i ended up on treasure island a month or so ago at one of their parties. weird old hippies and cars that shot fire.
on the upside, everyone was very entertaining and there were a few really wasted hot sluts.

this is so funny ...
the best is always the first and this was in the 80's in the Bay Area20 years later .... fail
- i'm sure the event is what you make of it and the company you keepscarabin_net
- capn_ron0
scarabin, you have as much space as you want. You probably want to get there early in the week so you are sure to get the space, but basically you find a spot on a street and park and set up camp. No shuttles or need to park elsewhere.
You will most likely park behind camp so you don't have to look at your car all week, but it will be there.
- perfect, thanks!scarabin_net
- I've entered on a tuesday and that is cool because you get to see the city grow throughoutcapn_ron
- the week. plus you get to see it when it is fairly mellow. (as mellow as crazy gets)capn_ron
