  I just picked up a 5D MKII last Saturday....and It's just awesome! And, it records HD video, about 48 minutes on a 16gb card! 2 cameras in one, I'm happy :)

  I use a 5D Mark I and I love it. The wide lens look, as well as depth of field control with my 85mm F1.8 is delightful. The only reason to get a 50D is the slightly faster AF than either 5D.

  Why upgrade camera? Better results if you try hard to learn more lighting and get a prime lens or two.

  for what it's worth, my pops has the Alpha from Sony. Really nice camera, puts the anti-shake in the body so you spend less on lenses down the road
