After being Beta for a while, Google's new legal and free music download website officially launched in China.
Google just launched his new music download website. 350,000 songs are currently available for streaming and offers local artists as well as Internationals signed under Sony BMG, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, or EMI.
Google announced more than 1 million songs should be available within the next few months.

it's not banned, just heavily censored, I'd assume it's a race to beat Baidu, their largest competitor there, who is often called out for assisting searches for illegal media downloads

What a bunch of cunts... Google tolerate the process of some adults not 'allowing' other adults to read things other adults have written (which is bizarre and fucked up), but devote thousands of man hours to helping pollute chinese children's bedrooms with Britney spears and Hannah monfuckingtana ? Cunts.

note; from my GF, to use google.com in china simply change the google.cn to google.com, and voila, teineman square (i've heard this before too) I guess the trick in to understand english

I actually tried google.cn via translator...and it doesn't work. Has something to do with intellectual property rights, which China doesn't acknowledge.

Bloody nation state's really piss me off with their sabre-rattling every now and again which they do to justify their own pointless existence.
We've all decided to buy computers, connect them together and trade currency, culture and ideas together, across these imaginary lines on maps, and we get along quite happily thanks very much until governmental bodies try to step in and reimpose their politics on us all.
