i owned at team fortress classic (this was back before the term 'pwnd' had been born).
haven't played tf2 because of the pixar look.

Steve - I kind of know where you're coming from - at first glance, the graphics are a bit cutesy, but they're incredibly effective and endearing. It makes a hella change from the drab grey look of many contemporary shooters, and because they don't strive for realness, tiyr memory accepts it as a better facsimile of a true gaming environment. I mean, everything in there makes so much sense and is a feast for the eyes.
It helps plenty that the game mechanics themselves are so engaging - you're likely aware of the usefuleness of individual character classes, but you might not have seen the Gold Rush game mode, which focuses the action along a course in the gaming field and allows for fun defence and offence roles.
I've been big into FPSs for over a decade now (Quake, Doom, HL, Unreal) and I have to say that TF2 is my favourite ever. It's possibly peeking into 'Best Game Ever' territory for me.
Not bad for the £20 or whatever it cost me.

^ fair enough. i do see the appeal, however if you were around on the tfc servers back in the day, it was one of the most active fps communities i've ever seen. suffice to say, there were a fair amount of let-down tfc'ers when tfc2 screens surfaced.
again, the new look is a nice breath of fresh air, but doesn't offer much of that nostalgic fix the veterans were hoping for.

Skate 2 is kind of wonky. I like the looks and concept but I'm not dedicated enough to get good at it.
