Taken from my Hotel room on the 33rd floor.

I think progress should be much faster now that the whole foundation etc and underground structure is built. Nice view though.

the problem was
1) some people were too busy trying to figure out how they could get rich off of this (shocked?) and
2) the families of the fallen felt everything that was being proposed wouldn't memorialize those that were lost properly.Two big wrenches tossed in the wheels of progress.

I worked on a few master plans and it takes a lot of time. Once I was on a project that went on for 10yrs and still nothing was built. The Cooper Union master planning started around 8 years ago and it's still not all complete yet. Even a small project like TKTS boost took about 8yrs from the competition to the completion though the delay on TKTS could have been a funding problem.
Those photos are great and I always love the buildings under construction. It would have been great if you had a large format camera to take those shots.

nice pics. it amazes me how little they've done. altho, in the first pic, on the left side by the walkway overpass, wasn't there a building there that they were redo-ing? seems like its missing.

i stayed at the millenium hilton back in 2004 and my room was at approximately the same level, and I got some of the same shots... the sad thing is that the differences between then and now are near indiscernible.
