Looking for a new laptop for my design work, but I'm super tight on cash (as usual). Should I go with the high-end Macbook or the low-end Macbook Pro?
The Pro version has a bigger screen and slightly more ram, but is it really worth the extra $400 or so?
PS I'm not running any heavy-duty stuff like video editing, but I do a lot of print work.

You're sure? 400 bucks is actually a lot of cash to me right now! (read: I'm a freelance bum.)

Pro. Better video card.

Definitely the Pro, check the refurbished models on Apple's site if you need to save a little. You will definitely appreciate the higher resolution, RAM, and GPU.

photoshop will run better and you can run 3d apps

If money really is a big deal, then you already know the answer to your question. You could be fine with a Macbook, since you do print work, but, in terms of a long-term investment and versatility, the Pro is probably better.
I'm completely fine with my Macbook (plan on getting the Pro in a year).

I have a macbook, which I sometimes run design work for print. Don't have a problem really, gets a little slow if you have a multi-page doc in inDesign with heavy graphics, but it's OK.
