in these lean times does anyone else find themselves having to wear a lot of hats at work?

we used to outsource our motion design, but we don't seem to be doing that anymore, and since i'm the only one in the office with an ostensible grasp of aftereffects, these tasks have now fallen upon me.

i honestly don't mind filling in the gaps wherever i can, and it wouldn't bother me so much except that i consider my abilities in aftereffects just a hair better than craptastic, so nothing i've done is particularly portfolio worthy. for the sake of the company however, craptastic is good enough.

meanwhile the traditional and web design stuff i'd do under normal circumstances are going to other designers. poop.

take it while you can. Get better at After Effects while your work is allowing you to work on these projects that don't require you to do awesome work. Think of it as getting paid to get better at something.
