Judaism and Christianity used to preach that black people's skin was the mark of Cain. The only religion that still teaches this is Mormonism. Discuss.
- designbot0
Judaism and Christianity NEVER taught this.
Mormonism did for a short time, and then removed it from it's teaching.

@uber
"According to some scholars, some early interpretations of the Bible in Syriac Christianity combined the "curse" with the "mark", and interpreted the curse of Cain as black skin.[7] Relying on rabbinic texts, it is argued, the Syriacs interpreted a passage in the Book of Genesis ("And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell") as implying that Cain underwent a permanent change in skin color.[8]Ephrem the Syrian (306-378): “Abel was bright as the light, / but the murderer (Cain) was dark as the darkness".[9]"
Syriac Christianity defined:
"Syriac Christianity is a culturally and linguistically distinctive community within Eastern Christianity."So perhaps a long time ago, a small group of Christians held this absurd belief and distortion of the Biblical texts....but to try and lump all Christianity together by saying "Christianity used to preach that black people's skin was the mark of Cain" is a massive overstatement...and simply not true.
- You're arguing with uber, you do realize the futility, no?TheBlueOne

uhmmmm. I think that you guys need to look a little further in your in your history books. The entire premise of this curse being attributed to darker skins tones is waaaaay off. Try researching where historians define the "cradle of civilization" as being. That should clarify things in the definitive sense.
