hey guys
I recently finished a display font. It is called rund which is Swedish for round.
It is based on 12 circles laid out on a 3x4 grid.It comes with a PDF poster that follows a similar 3-column grid, with the main copy
laid out as the 3x4 grid used for the font. The color scheme is based on hue increments of 30, going from 0 to 360, thus completing the whole color wheel/circle.I'm hoping to be able to print the poster and if I get enough donations through my site, I'll send out some copies to the first people who donates.
Hope you enjoy it!
Ok, gonna try to insert a link now... please no link fail...

I actually like the attempt...a lot.
Have you tried making the crossbar on the f straight. I like the small liberties you allowed yourself to take with the 5 and the t already. The ascender of the t could use some shortening as well. The upper arm of the k might not need the double curve, the w is unique but busy, and I'm not sure what I think of the z as of yet.
the q looks uppercase, but it's beautiful. Keep up the good work.
- thanks mate,
I appreciate your feedback.
I did try a straight crossbar on the f, but kinda like the curved shorter one. i've tried to stay within the grid as much as possible so that dictates a lot of the shapes. I agree about the w, still not sure about that one.methodMan - I agree with all of monospaced suggestions. Allow yourself more liberties to polish off the face while keeping the essence of your original idea. nice work!ian00

I like it. Reminds me of Basix from T26 a little. Nice work on your site BTW.

Nice job methodman!
Reminds me 'Cloud' from SubType.

indeed nice idea.
but the grid is not really advantageous.
f, k, x, z are not working

thanks for the feedback guys
I've tried to stay as close to the concept as much as possible.
Letting the circles and the grid dictate the shapes of the characters. There are obviously drawbacks with using a grid like that, but in this case that was the whole idea.I don't really see how the x could be any different for instance.
As monospaced pointed out, the k doesn't necessarily need the extra curve on the upper arm.Hmm, I might go back and try some smaller changes.

The k is far too wide.
Using a grid is fine and all, but as you can see, one trick can't work for all characters. That's why you need another trick, which shoudn't ruin the consistence of the whole font.

maybe it's nice for contrast but it strikes me as odd that you chose flat ends instead of round. was it something you did on purpose or was it not considered?
also the straight lines don't appear as thick as the rounded lines (toward their finish) – would be nice to have them appear balanced.
- it's a lovely type study – thanks for sharing._salisae_
- I wanted a sharp, crisp look so that's why I went with flat ends.methodMan
- the thickness might be Fontlab or the antialiasing in that size. works better in larger point sizesmethodMan
- it's more than a type study, it's a working font http://www.andersorr…methodMan

I don't really see how the x could be any different for instance.
- that means your grid is not flexible enough.. its not good to be too circumscribed.all you need is a bit more variety for your grid, especially when you want to create a ("roundish") font.
(maybe just a bigger amount of circles?)didn´t find a perfect example.
