Can you import / place it in Flash or Illy and then Break Apart / Embed?

whoa! i almost forgot about Freehand. it's been at least 7 years since i touched that program. It was built by Macromedia before Adobe's acquisition, so that's why you can't open in Illustrator. Try opening in Fireworks.

At work we have a lot of legacy art in Freehand. I've found that Illustrator CS4 does not seem to have any problems opening it and giving me editable vectors.

Is it not possible to open it in Acrobat Professional and then re-save it as an EPS file?

i do vector work in freehand 5 under classic, then move to illy to complete stuff and be compatible. for fe fh5 was/is the best vector tool ever.

There were a few tools/modifiers that were unique to Freehand and that I half expected to see incorporated into Illustrator after the buy-out. I converted to Illustrator in 2001 out of necessity, but used Freehand here and there for years. I feel like Adobe really left out a lot of users by not giving Illustrator a "Freehand Mode," or something like it.

i alwys foudn freehand way more easier to use
would u all advise me to go back ?

still using freehand 9 and photoshop 7 for all the stuff, loading and preview fast, does the job, but the transparent gradient in illy is the killer, can't beat it
