come on lurkers - SPEAK UP !!

ive had a load of emails trying to entice us to enter.
ive been thinking of entering something ive done myself rather than through stuff ive done at work. does it have to be through your company you work for?never really paid much attention to these awards but in actual fact they seem a lot more creative and worthy of actual entry.
with the likes of the Drum awards, it's the same old companies that win the awards - and surprise surprise its the same companies who take out advertising in each issue.
(who shouted "Fix!? what are you saying likes?)
and their web design category is a joke - they go purely on the LOOK of the site and not how it actually works, the technologies involved or how much it benefits the client or speeds up their workflow etc. Nice ethos - especially if you are around 2001.
These days clients are looking for more than just a nice page created in photoshop then exported.- who would u do it for
urself or ur studio ?liveforever - im not going to be entering this year but its something il have in the back of mind for the future23kon
- who would u do it for

yeh true i agree - but fuck it - bit of fun
i dont intend on paying £1000 for a table at the event if i get to the final. And i can prob guess that if i dont buy a table the chances of me getting the award are 0 to nonebut end of day if you dnt usually do this kinda thing - theres no harm in doing a one off
no ?

if you submitted something that was going to wipe the floor with everyone then dont worry ... you'd get the usual phone call ....
"yes company X, we think that you's should get a table ... something special may happen (hint hint)"
then when you refuse
a day or two later ....
"the price is now cheaper"
its the same with advertising in these mags.
last minute is the cheapest way to opt in ;)

23kon - yer spot on.
The professional value of these awards inside the industry is fuck all. Outside the industry they probably have a negative value. They remind me of one of those fairground games where you have to spend three times the value of the prize just to 'earn' enough points to win the prize. Worthless shite,.
