is it a case of bigger is better, or can you go too big? am looking at either a4 or a5
- nc_bergesen0
i used an A3 one and it was waaaay too big
- i have a cheap german tablet, but if i had the cash i would go for Wacom's Intuos3 A5 Wide (if you have a widescreen display)nc_bergesen
- haha yeah i'd imagine, ive used a5 only before and altho it was fine, always felt like it wasnt really big enough for the whole screenHoax

9x12 intous3 if you got the cash if not, vistablet has an decent cheap knock off for around $150, once you get it working right the pressure sense and hot keys work very well.

In the old days, you didn't want one that was larger than your screen.
These days, that's probably a lot less likely an issue.
Personally, I'd not go larger than A4.

I have a wacom intuos3 a4, and it's too big. I ended up mapping mine down. If I was buying again, I'd go A5.
- a4 is the actual pad, with the other stuff it's much bigger than a4.Jnr_Madison
- oh yeah, wide too.Jnr_Madison

I got the wee bamboo, and it's great! I don't get why anyone would pay more.

- Bloody hell, that IS too big.Nairn
- Should have spent the money on a decent monitorkalkal
- If the edges were flush with the pad, it'd be ace, but..
And, silly goon should get a keyboard switch - PC one's shitNairn - that too, kalkal - it's the most important bloody component!Nairn
- I love needlessly harshing people I'll never meet - it's so empowering.Nairn
- YEA look at those curtains what a bastard!
hahhhHoax - perfect size. the wide border is so your hand sits level with the pad. twats.inkpink

i have the smallest intuos 3 at work and i lovee it. takes up hardly any desk space, and plus i set the "tracking" to be rather quick so im not dragging my hand all over the tablet.

Oh and the wacom mouse is shit. I still use a wired mouse in conjunction with my tablet.

yeah i've never got to grips with the tablet mice haha, the mouse isnt an issue to me

I've used a larger graphics tablet just once. I believe it was a3. Quite old, but it had a very smooth feel to it. I'd say it was waaaaaaay too big and with just a 21" crt. You have to make sweeping arm movements to do simple things

9x12 intuos3 A4 is perfect size. i find any larger and you lose the scale of the project plus its bulky. Too small and you have a lot of scrolling to do and there isn't enough room to do initial sketches.
(not a big deal but enough to upgrade later)

bamboo is fine for me

I've plugged it before and I'm plugging it again;
the Wacom Special Edition. It's black, dammet! No one has that version.
Except perhaps the people who bought it.It's a5.
At work I sit on a4.
My first were an a4, in 99.
Guess what I'm saying is:Just go to a shop and stylus away. You'll get to know which one to get. Don't take a bunch of strangers advice of off qbn.
Except me.

I am loving my 6 x 11" Intuos 3. I wouldn't go smaller though.

I've used the tiny A6 graphire for years now and wouldn't want anything bigger for general use as you can navigate quickly and easily with minimal movement.
However for illustration purposes bigger would definitely be better....my first graphire pen - well the pen just stopped working.
my current one has been far better although the eraser does not work even though I couldn't really care less about that. The rubber grip wore away and started coming apart so I just removed it. Pen was too fat with the grip anyhow. The plastic nib has worn right down.
Is there anybody out there with real constructive critisism on the competitors? Some facts would really be helpful!
