I mean no offense, gentleman, but HOW THE FUCK DOES HE KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING OR WHETHER THE POSSIBLY IDIOTIC CLIENT WILL ACCEPT HIS FIRST DESIGN
- it's just a club flyer.robotron3k
- as much as they are willing to paymagnificent_ruin

No offense magnificent, but designers must be able to ESTIMATE how long it will take them to do something. It's standard practice.
- I know, I do it all the time. But it rarely has any relevance to how much time I end up spendingmagnificent_ruin

- You're doing it wronggabadilla
- what do you do, stop working when you meet your time limit? or keep working after you're finished?magnificent_ruin

anyone saying they design club flyers on an hourly rate is either full of shit or working for the ministry of sound.
last i heard people were offering $100-$200, and expect way more than a couple hours of your time. and that's why i don't do them anymore unless its for a friend.
- GrandChamp0
(your hourly rate) x (how many hours you think it will take u) = (your fee)
- inkpink0
depending on the situation i might suggest trying to sell a bulk rate to your club client, like 10 flyers for $1500... then you at least have an opportunity to art direct the events and potentially end up with a nice group of printed pieces for your portfolio.
- good ideabaseline_shift
- * my sug price for 10 is based on going rates i posted above... you of course feel out client and do the appropriate mathinkpink
- no promoter is going to give you $1500 up front. Maybe if its a big venue you are dealing with directly..Meeklo
- Meeklo0
^ that guy is right.
I do flyers all the time and there is no money to be made there.
It depends on the night really and how well you know the promoter. There is 9k of kids that will do the same job you are doing for the price of an admission, so if you charge what you should, they are most likely to give it someone else.

I bill $200.00 - $250.00 per flyer aprox eight hours of total work (includes draft, plus revisions, upload time, etc.)
I have a lot of fun doing it so it equates to a nice dinner for the fam. Usually open creative so it nice to start blank and bulid a neat graphic with focus on type at the end.
- auejim0
cool thanks for your help. The client is big and wants to sign me up for a series so maybe a bulk price might be a good idea.
- JayCee0
Really you don't know how to charge for a stupid flyer? this can't be real.
- dibec0
PS> As mentioned above it is not a money making gig, put it can put some extra bucks in your pocket. I have been screwed numerous times as well. So becareful and try to get 25% - 50% up front. Most of all have fun doing it. ;)
- auejim0
They are after quite a time consuming illustration, design so as you said dont wanna be screwed over...
- kuttyranks0
What inkpink said, can end up spending a fair bit of time on them and sometimes there are endless revisions :(
Anyone got a examples of flyer work thye have done?
