So there is personal memorabilia to remember those that we have actually had a personal connection to. There are millions of people that do not have that connection.

If you do artwork to support politics, campaigns and etc, why not do design for those who actually get it in the face?

True, millions of people think that actors, television, artists, etc, should all stay out of politics. If they did, then how would you know about your president? Or future president?

Actually, I was mostly thinking out loud. I was a soldier in Iraq and witnessed many friends and colleagues losing very close friends. I have always wondered how design could help remember those fallen.

I think design helps with those public works really, how else are we to remember the fallen as a society? Either personal family mementos or monuments. Anything inbetween really smacks me of crass exploitation really. Like cheap chinese made american flags.

I think it has done a fairly good job so far. As far as coming up with commercial uses for this, it can get into a very sticky and unethical area.
