any one ever send use a questionaire type thing. Something to have to make my creative process easier. I usually feel they forget that I'm not a copy writer.

For new clients (that don't have a marketing dept) I used to send a questionnaire - it was basically a fill-in-the-blank, Creative Brief.
- ESKEMA0
Only the necessary per job, I don't want to have shit I don't need. Unless it's a big client for tons of ongoing work, in that case they should already have a folder with everything organized to hand over.

Currently working freelance for a new company with no marketing department, well just about 4 marketing leads that know nothing about creative process. It is a mess, files everywhere, photography in so many different hard drives, no creative process or briefs for new assignments. But, they are open to my suggestions, so wish me luck.

...are they a huge comglomerate client who just bought some other firms?
4 marketing leads who know nothing about creative process?!?!? do they presently have an agency that just takes it all and bills a shit ton for hours spent decrypting the pile? .... like ESKEMA mentioned?
IMHO.... the list should be a reflection of the outcome of a meeting, and an understand of:
1. what is the business goal?
2. who is the target market?
3. who is responsible for what?
4. who has the authority to approve what?hence, the list is mostly spelling out #3 and #4, but I always write #1 and #2 at the top of correspondence with new clients, so that the "randomly cool idea" doesn't distract everyone from the "list of stuff to get now".. because people often come up with random ideas and such to AVOID GIVING YOU STUFF THAT THEY CAN'T EASILY FIND...
also, a line like;
Project Timelines are dependent on when materials are recieved...
it sounds like they need a copywriter and copy editor, two professions that big agencies take seriously but many clients don't even imagine existing....
