yea, i heard the people who live in barcelona only go on the beach, the stupid tourists go into the sea..
but hey, thats what I heard

Barceloneta is a bit dirty, but other playas, further away from the port are ok. Alcohol will disinfect anything in the evening anyway and there are always other beaches in neighbouring villages. Water is too cold anyway until June...
- I was going to post exactly this but got sidetracked - go out to the last onekelpie

you can get a train up the coast too. some nice beaches that way. The loadspeaker announcements on Barceloneta are mental when you're hungover and not expecting it..
There is a a great Cava Bar in Barceloneta. You buy a sandwich and get a bottle of cava for a couple of €.....Any time we were there over the years it was packed
- lol i was there a couple of time ,very popular********
- I went there a couple of times for a salty bacon butty and glass of sweet sickly cava. Muy bien.nessdog

last time we were in barcelona we had travelled through France by train and spend a few days walking and camping over the Pyrenees. At the border up the mountains you can get a cheap train into Barcelona.
If you have time you could probably get this train out of barcelona and experience the pyrenees...
You can get the yellow train down the other side into France.

If you have a nice dslr, get an inconspicuos bag for it. Never hold it without the strap on your head or around your wrist. Be careful when using your phone. Don't carry your wallet and phone in a pocket it can be pullrd out. Develop 360 deg. sight around your head when on Ramblas.
Don't be paranoid about thieves either, but be smart.Have un bocadillo con tortilla patata for breakfast and when in the Born area, try the delicious Pizza del Born slices.
- I carried my DSLR everywhere without any problem, but be careful on Ramblas indeed.non

On a weekend evening, people sit in front of macba, drink beer, smoke weed, skate, play music. Beer and delicious fresh samosas are provided by vendors.. Good vibe.
