just thought i'd share a discovery in case anyone here wasn't aware. and cares:

brief: getting an animated file from AE / Motion to an LCD photoframe with quality and easily.

i've had great success with divx. the divx format is actually a overhauled .avi format with a different name. the cool thing is that it converts to a massively reduced filesize while retaining quality and all you need to do is change the file type by deleting .div and changing it to .avi and it'll play on avi only photoframes / phones etc.

basically for a client i create a 'special' every 2 months that includes a lightbox graphic, flyers, website revision and now an LCD photoframe looping some animations i've done in Motion and After Effects.

the photoframe only takes avi format and the export from quicktime is a terrible quality to avi. i bought divx and divx encoder for about $30 and it is incredible.

the avi from quicktime was 50mb and crap quaility. the divx file was 4mb and all i did was delete the appendix .div and changed it to .avi. copied over to the photoframe and bob's your uncle.

thought it might be a useful note for anyone. it's another revenue stream anyways.

The avi format is actually a container that can contain motion and audio compressed in a variety of formats.
