How can I change the direction of my text in inDesign. I want to put it vertical. is this possible? like the photoshop button just change type direction??
thanks

like stacked on top of each other? indesign doesn't like to do this easily, you have to draw a path and use the text-on-path tool i think.

yeah got it. type on path then type on path options...
don't know why I didn't try that before asking..many thanks

if you create a table in indesign you can change the direction of the text too, I think.

can you just rotate the text field?
- yes but the text rotate with itESKEMA

use the numerical rotate function, not the rotate tool.
- same effect as the tool. type on path is the way to go.ESKEMA
- works fine on mine. rotates type and text frame. try using the transform palette.johndiggity

I have this solved... type on path does what I want.
it's for page numbering so any other manual trick was not an option.

Simply rotate the text box with the Free Transform Tool (E)
Hell of a lot easier than typing on paths (if you're using straight lines and paragraphs).

Why would you want to do that, may I ask?
