Grand Designs Last Night?

Properly the biggest disaster of a building I have ever seen on Grand Design. The design extension ruined the Original building. The glass extension then had a wall going throw the middle of the building cutting off what could been an amazing space, The architect then stick a second level on top of the extension which just completely fucked up the original build even more, utter and complete disregards for an historic building, and then to top it off they render the bloody thing white. I am just amazed they got planning permission.

i quite liked it, but thought the extra portakabin stuck on top of the extension was shite.
and they paid way over the odds for the building in the first place - £1m for a wreck in newport ffs. twats with more money than sense.

The only decent bit was the original building/castle.
I'm waiting for the day when Mcloud actually says... "this is a huge waste of money and you've ruined the building" he always kisses ass.

Second level on top of the extension was sacrilegious, but an amazing project to complete. I was skeptical about a modern extension on such a grand castle, but in the end it did to some degree work.
Pure excess though - a castle was not enough for a couple with 1 kid?

just shite... people who think they can add an ultra modern extension to a period house have no sense of style.
make a freakin choice about what you want and stick to it.

I can't watch this programme any more. I really love the idea but I found McCloud's shtick way to predicatble and it makes me feel like I'm being taken for an idiot. He really ought to watch any random three episodes to see how predictable he is and then maybe think about being honest instead.
We need Roger Mellie fronting this show.

the new extension looks too much like offices
they shouldve used less stone in the extension and made most of it out of glass.
a glass box on the side of the castle wouldve looked a lot better.
