Ever think you're being interviewed just to provide ideas for free? Is there a line that can be crossed or is it not even relevant?

It's Possible. If your worried just be vague about the concept while still sounding intelligent. Then say "People pay me to share my ideas. Hire me if you want more..."

don't covet your ideas, sharing them will get you further.

i think it happens all of the time. but it's like a double edge sword. why hire a studio before you know they suck or not. budgets aren't big enough to do a second round anymore. i feel more comfortable when ppl are upfront with their concepts and confident about giving that away without charge. saying it upfront too is great. "lets brainstorm, and i wont charge you for my time, but in doing so, i intend on becoming a partner in your projects in the future." or something like that.
