I'm working at a small agency with limited interactive/online experience. I've been asked to give a lunchtime talk about online in hopes of getting people engaged in creating more and better online work.
Where should I start?
What should I show / talk about?

engaging a user, usability, stats about online drop outs
show some show off works of online creative agencies
show some disgusting online design work, for what not to do and WHY
show some things about how online communities are like sheep and follow trends more so than in real life
explain having a website must serve some function and not just because the owner of some company thinks he should have one
use a HEFTY boring PPT to demonstrate all of the above

examples of conversion rates on order paths
prescribe them daily sites they must look at for design trends online

do all of the above, with your wanger hanging out of your trousers

just take the time and hold each other, the rest is probably futile...

make sure you bore them with w3c standards and why they cant use custom dropdowns and why the world hates ie6 and anyone that uses it should be sent back in time to when the world was flat... because lets face it thats where they belong!

hehe thats something thats been talked about at our place too.
we are a small web design company within a larger print design company.if you have print designers designing for web then all sorts of problems are going to be hitting the fan lol.
i'd talk to them about web stuff and what it entails
ask them if any are interested in getting into web
if non of them are then they certainly shouldnt be designing FOR web.
if a bunch do show an interest then take them aside after the talk you do then focus future meetings with just them - dont waste your time with the others.and yeah pointing them in the direction of qbn etc is a good shout to let them see good contemporary web design and also the forums for talking shop and asking questions.
