I an email from an Creative Director at a firm I am applying for a position at. The CD asked if this was a good representation of my work or if I would like to show some more pieces. As I am fresh out of college. Is this a good sign? Or does it mean my pieces weren't strong enough?

how many pieces did you show? i think they just want to see more, w/c is a good sign

I gave them a 3 page pdf one with a few logos and the other two with campaigns.

It doesn't mean they don't like what they've seen. If anything it means the liked what they saw else they wouldn't bother asking for more.

its a good sign. if he thought you were shit he wouldn't waste his time. he needs some convincing though.

do you have more to show? i guess the right answer is 'yes - this is a good rep of my work and style' but would be plus to back that up with a few more samples

I would just say answer the question. Were they a good representation of your work? Have you done other stuff that represents you better?

They haven't told you to fuck off so its probably a good sign.
Get some more samples together but make sure you're still happy with them, don't add any ropey stuff to pad it out.

yeah he might be looking for "inspiration"
- on a serious note, 3 pages is not enough to judge, but if it's good yout get his attentionattentionspan
- Yeah, I thought it was light, but I didn't want to overload her on the first email.tcmmct

Alright, thanks guys. I told her I felt It was a good cross section of my work, but would be happy to show a few more examples. She asked for some more pre-press work. So I am going to have to dig. I don't have many pieces I am crazy about.

I've got another question for you vets. So it have been a few weeks since she asked for the work. I followed up about a week after sending more work and was told that they would get back sometime last week. I haven't heard anything. I know from a few friends who already work there that they are a bit behind at the moment so they may still be looking through portfolios and such. Is it possible to email too much about the position or should I shoot her an email today to see if they have filled the position/started interviewing. Thanks for any advice in a advance.

or maybe the DA is choosing between you and other guys so he wants to see more stuff to make its final decision.

A follow-up email to see if there's been any developments since you last got in touch is always a good idea — at the least it makes you look keen.
