Can my client use his "Mac Os X Server" application on his Media Temple (gs)Grid Server?
- pauli0
And if so, what advantage would this give him?

you have to be more specific. is it a cocoa application or something that runs in the web stack?

Dude, your waay over my head. I just know he asked me if
he could use " Mac Os X Server", http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/2… , on his server as if it was an internal company server.

Wouldn't Media Temple support be a more effective place to get your answer?

Not on grid as far as im aware, maybe dv but im not sure weather mediatemple allow different server configurations other than the default ones they apply. There help desk is really quick and ive allways had quick and precises answers to any questions ive had.

os x server only runs on apple hardware. mediatemple runs a unix derived variant. if either are being used as web servers, they're both running apache anyway, which is the software that makes them web servers, so functionally it is not really any different. mt certainly don't let you install your own OS on any box. you usually have to pay some serious coin at a co-lo to get that level of customization. and then at that level you actually have to know how to admin a server yourself.
- there are other hosts that do have apple hardware though, already running os x server, if that's what he really wantsacescence
