I'd like to get some quick feedback on something, in regards to my portfolio I'm about to re-launch.
What do you think is more accommodating to a site viewer, in terms of listing your work? Meaning, do you all think it is better to present everything as a full list of work, or in collapsible categories, such as "Print," "Web," et cetera.
In the past, I've used both for various versions of my portfolio, but going forward I want to have a site that is supremely clean and succinct. I'm leaning towards just a list with no categories, but at the same time, I can see the advantages of having projects sectioned off by types.
Would love to hear any feedback in regards to this sort of UI issue.
Thanks in advance.

I'm putting together my portfolio site at the moment and very likely to go with different page for each area of work.
i'm looking for a work placement for the third year of my degree and i'm putting together my portfolio and CV to send to some firms.
i'll post it here when i'm done.

depends.
number of projects, available space in the chosen layout, etc...

Ok, but what is the reasoning behind your decision?
I respect why someone would categorize their work into mediums, but I also see a LOT more sites where it's just bam, bam, bam, all my work in a list.
Just wondering if you have a clear reasoning for your decision.

is it important to instantly highlight that you work across different mediums or not really? We've just been through a similar process.
- That essentially the root of what I'm trying to determine I guess. Thanks, that helps me more than you can imagine.thizzbobby

with you there andy_ssw, i work across a few mediums (web, photography and print) i'm certainly no expert in any of them as i'm still studying.
the photography is mainly personal stuff, but its a skill i have so its worth showing off in my portfolio. IMOthe structure depends on how the work will be laid out i guess, different mediums benefit from different layouts and UI. your portfolio is all about showing off your work as best as possible so if it means more pages then that's the wise way to do it.
