New Job New Contract?

Hi guys,
I have a contract with a client, for a particular job, who has paid up on the balance and also the hourly rate we went into after the time-frame expired..so its all good so far.
How ever the client has more work on the back end of the finished project that he would like me to do, and continue at the hourly rate from the last project.
My question is, even though my hourly rate will work out to be the same on the old and new project, should I still create a new project agreement, detailing the new job etc because the client wants to just 'continiue on', i.e. continue the hourly rate from the last project for this new one.
is this a good idea or should I get a new contract with details of the new job etc..and then continue, instead of on the back end of the last project (even tho they're related)?
My worry is that if the worst comes to worst, the could not pay because it wasn't in the contract they signed, but they would now have the new work from me.
any ideas? new contract new job , or just continue on from the last?
