When I first used these typographical-signs on newstoday, no one knew what it stood for. In the years since, I've been delighted to see its use spread throughout this site. I'm hoping that it will eventually spread throughout cyberspace, because I've always wondered what it would be like to have invented a piece of common parlance. In pursuit of this lifelong goal, I encourage anyone to use parentheses (or round-brackets as you might have heard me call them) as often as possible IRL and on other sites. Many thanks.
