Ok..something I always wondered
Illustrator > Effects Menu
Under the Illustrator Effects we have Stylize>Feather
which SEEMS to do the same thing as
Under the Photoshop Effects > Blur
These are both located in the effects menu, so they are editable APPEARANCE changes only
I have noticed that blurring seems to take longer to render
so? what's going on here? what's the difference?
anyone?
thanks!

well there you go, the master has spoken!! haha
yeah in illustrator you can get rid of the blur any time you want
but I've alwys wondered what the difference is between the Filter menu and the Effects menu. there doesnt seem to be much difference there either

Yes...my understanding was that everything under effects is really a bitmap effect EVEN though it's found in Illustrator
it obviously is...because there are Raster effect settings found under Effects in Illustrator.
so...my question again....if both the Blur AND Feather effect in Illustrator are both Bitmap....what is the difference?

feather is edges only. blur is entire object.

Under effects, the impression is made that the shape blurs, but in fact the original shape can be released from the effect and it will be as it was.
Under filter, the vector shape is converted into a pixel based image and then treated to a blur, rendering it permanently blurred as a pixel based image.

johndiggity is the winner!
I only use either effect on solid shapes...so I never noticed the difference
Thanks
