Safari 3.0.4 (the first 3.x non-beta) was released in October 2007, replacing Safari 2 and coinciding with the release of OS X 10.5 Leopard. That's not so long ago in the scheme of things. Interesting.
After doing a lot of work with Prototype I happened upon jQuery about a year ago. It's elegant. I was quickly converted.

Also, assuming the rendering engines are the same, version 3 was the first Safari for PC as well as the first for the iPhone OS. I assume setting the baseline at v3 makes life easier for jQuery developers; three birds with one stone.
Are any of you developers? Tried Safari 4 on Snow Leopard yet? Wondering what the deal is. HTML 5 does some fun stuff.
