I am a designer by day; and thinking of coming up with a brand of my own. My products would be interior products & stationeries; the design/fabric on the items are custom made. As such, I need to know : how can one have a design be transferred to fabric? What are the processes and technologies needed to do that? Any feedbacks are welcomed :-)

Do you mean taking a vector design (for example) and applying it to fabric?

Heres a bit of into, i tried printing an illustration onto silk digitally but the colours changed and theres wasn't much contrast as it was a very dark image.

imadesigner : yup yup. :-) so they can be made into bags, curtains, table cloth etc.
Millions of thanks Cabein! Just the info that I need! :-) How do you find the costs are for you?

i've seen gocco stamps/gocco machine being used to make patterns on the fabric.

gocco would work on small items. good idea, too. but if i were to make, say; a curtain?
whoa. :-D
thanks plusminusbox.

costs lotsa money. you're talking rolls of fabric so must be milled with your design, or printed with a roller which is mega minimums and setup fees. i've been involved with projects at factories overseas and i think just the artwork setup fee on rollers was over 1000$.

or if you dig deep you may still be able to find someone who screenprints meterage by hand.

I set up my own screen print stuff quite cheaply, it can be quite messy in your own home tho (bath fittings didn't like it, neither did the carpet). It'd be the cheapest way to get what you want, not the easiest though.
