Yeah that's right, I'm going there, next week, yeah I'm looking forward to it, yeah.
Anyway, has anybody been before? Can anybody recommend anywhere to stay for a reasonable price? Any cool places to go / see?
Thinking of staying in a guesthouse near the beach, had a look and they seem pretty reasonable. Any tips?
Cheers!

hey thats my home town!
Guesthouse near the beach is a good idea. The west coast (camps bay, hout bay) is a lot nicer, but the water is fakken ARCTIC! you cant actually swim in it you just dip in. But those are definitely the more beautiful beaches.. especially the ladies. The east coast (simons town, vishoek) has much nicer water but the beaches are a little dirty and crowded.. and it's not really advisable to just leave valuable stuff lying around on the bigger beaches. but there are plently secret little alcoves and stuff.
As for transport, unless you're in camps bay you'll be pretty far from the city, so if you plan on hitting clubs n bars you'll need a cab. You can take a train during the day (just make sure its 1st class) but after dark there's NO transport so again you're taking cabs.
So if you planning on boozing every night, stay in the city and travel out by day. You you wanna just loung on the beach and perve head for camps bay or llandudno. If you want to swim and surf and tan and all of it, try find a place in Simons Town its a very charming little spot.

Thanks luke, great help! Going with the missus so will make sure I pack a very dark pair of sunglasses so she can't see where my eyes are! Reckon we're more going to be into the chilling by the beach aspect, but we're going to want to go out as well, so we'll definitely cab it. Gonna have a look round Camps Bay...

My wife and I stayed in this place last year and it was absolutely amazing!! http://www.79onorange.co.za/main…
In the mornings, they serve you breakfast in their private garden with views of Table Mountain. All the rooms are themed by different citrus fruit (Orange, Lime, Tangerine etc.). I can highly recommend it! :)

My parent in-laws live in Hermanas (about 1 hours drive from Cape Town) so we go quite a lot.
18 on Crox is where we always stay which is lovely: http://www.18oncrox.com/
